last post

so, this will be my last post i'm assuming...today is my last full day in chiang mai, and then tomorrow i fly out to bangkok, stay the "night" (i leave at 2 am for the airport) at gary and paula's and then start heading home! i am both excited and sad to be leaving. my last few days here have been nice, i've managed to get a little more sleep each night ( a whopping 6 hours), and i've been able to relax a little. unfortunately this is mostly due to my acting like i'm at home, so i've watched a few movies, listened to music, and gone out for food and usually like, one outing with gaelle and other couchsurfers. so that's kind of a dull way to spend my days in chiang mai, but it's helped me to relax, so oh well i guess. and i still did everything in chiang mai that i had wanted to, so i don't have any regrets in that department. i think as disappointing as it might be to myself and others that i've cut my trip short, it was the right choice. because i've enjoyed my time in chiang mai so much (thanks to having a friend to stay with and not being alone all the time!!) i am sad to go, but i am determined to come back soon; and with someone else so that i can be more adventurous and visit some the small outlying villages, or go trekking, visit the national parks, etc. etc. i would rather be going back now and regret leaving early than to have decided to stay and regret staying because of being miseable again in cambodia when i would have been alone again. at least it means, like i said, that i look back positively on this trip and really want to come back!! anyway, yesterday i just chilled out, watched the darjeeling limited, and then ate lunch at a vegetarian buffet restaurant, so so so good, and i ate wayyyy too much. then we hit the saturday night walking market and i made all my final purchases and got a 1/2 hour thai massage...delightfully painful at moments...but my poor back and shoulders needed it after lugging my backpack around these last 2 weeks. today i've got another movie to watch and i'll just grab some lunch while i start getting things organized for the trip home. tonight gaelle, zoe, and some other cs'ers will get dinner and have one last fun night before zoe and i take off - and it's zoe's birthday, so we have to celebrate that too - and then it's home to try and get a good nights sleep since i won't get much the next night. i will definitely miss chiang mai, it's just a friendly place, beautiful because it's set up in the hills, good weather (this time of year anyway), and i've met a lot of cool people here that i will have to keep in touch with. but i will be glad to be home and getting to work on my photography...and planning when i can come back - anyone want to go with me?? haha, just kidding, well sort of... : )
